Wagga Wagga’s largest one day festival, the annual Wollundry Rotary Club’s Food and Wine Festival, will be held this year on Saturday March 27.
More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the event to be staged in the Civic Precinct.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Kevin Roben, said he was hopeful that $40,000 can be raised.
“Last year 5000 people attended and we were able to raise $25,000.
“This year we have doubled the size of the venue, doubled the number of stalls and put together a first class entertainment package led by members of the Australian Army Band Kapooka.
“We have also extended the opening hours (noon to 10pm).
“We are therefore hoping to double the number of attendees and believe our forecast of raising $40,000 is achievable.”
The entry fee remains the same at $5 with patrons able to buy a wine glass for another $5 for wine sampling.
In addition to the 60 wine and food stalls, a beer tent will be operating.
“The Wine and Food Festival is Wagga Wagga’s premier festival.
“By doubling the size of the venue the Festival will be more enjoyable for the many thousands of people we are expecting to attend.
“They will be able to enjoy a picnic atmosphere on the lawns of the Civic Precinct, try gourmet food, sample some of the region’s best wines and enjoy a packed entertainment program.
“It is certainly an event not to be missed,” Mr Roben said.
